Wannabe Emo, layabout drifter, or death addict?


In some ways, the Peter Petrelli (Milo Ventimiglia) that we meet at the beginning of Heroes is a cypher for all the Heroes - they sense, perhaps, that there is something 'special' about them, but they're not sure what that is, and how exactly it's going to affect their lives. They just know they're destined for something 'more'. When it comes to Peter, he's used to living in the shadow of his brother Nathan, the shark-like lawyer and politician. If that shadow's not long and dark enough - have you met his mum? She's ferocious, practical, and a little bit nuts. It's not surprising that Peter decides the best kind of job for him is to become a hospice nurse, tending the dying in their final days. It's a career that let's him express his empathy, but offers little in the way of long term responsibility.

If at first you don't succeed to be a hero, try try again!

The first episode, he really doesn't have time for his wishy washy brother and his strange and somewhat macabre job of nursing people through their final moments. Nathan is only focused on one thing - getting into Congress, something that's quite tricky when you're 8% behind in the polls (just ask Hilary Clinton!)

With a shoplifting mother blinded by the grief of losing a husband, an emo-wannabe younger sibling with annoying dreams of flying, it's hard for a young politician to focus on the important things in life.
