chances are that there is a genetic factor involved in the surviors, so if this is so then possibly his daughter could be a survivor?

There's no guarantee of a genetic link, look at Marla's husband (whatever his name is), Jason's father.

If there is a genetic reason for Russell's survival, then it may save Kizzy, but there's no guarantee that Jenelle would have the same genetic factor.

The Genetic Factor

The genetic theory is very likely, but things to keep in mind are that jasons father did not survive, but the mother did, there is a genetic link, so I dont see why you dismissed it on those grounds.
But trust would be Important, things would be easier if there was a companion with a common-ish destination, but then meeting new people wouldnt be interesting, and it would be way too clique!

Highschool Biology.

If a child has a genetic factor, you can be certain one of it's parents had it too, but there's no guarantee both do. So what I meant was, if Russ has this factor, Kizzy is very likely alive too, but Janelle may or may not have the factor as well, so the chance of her survival (on purely genetic grounds) is 50/50

look, i quoted yooh!

"There's no guarantee of a genetic link, look at Marla's husband (whatever his name is), Jason's father."

Marla and her husband were related by marriage, not by blood.
Marla and her son have a gentic link.

and you seemed to be against the thoery and used that reason.

thats all im saying. im not challenging high school biology.

I'm not challenging the theory of a genetic factor common to all the survivors, quite the contrary. All I'm saying is that though Kizzy probably would have inherited the factor from Russ, we have no way of knowing if Janelle would. Much like Jason would have inherited the factor from Marla, not his father.

I've just thought of another problem with this though, in the same episode (Man of the House i think) Russ says that he'd seen several orphans on the street after the fall. If a genetic factor did determine survival, there shouldn't have been any orphans as every surviving child would have inherited the factor from at least one parent.
