Bruce Boxleitner, who played Captain (then President) John Sheridan on iconic SCI FI show Babylon 5, will join yet another iconic SCI FI show for its next season - Heroes.

According to America's TV Guide, he'll be playing a recurring character that 'interacts' with one of the shows leading ladies. Apparently, the now 58 year old actor was originally slated for a John McCain type role, but the character was re-written to let the ol' Boxleitner magic shine. No details as yet, but good news for Heroes fans nervous after the recent strlkes.

The internet is a beautiful place, where the unlikely and the awesome marry into a veritable treasure-trove of geeky goodness.

Recently, Wil Wheaton, (yes, that Wil Wheaton), said on his blog, (yes, he has a blog), that he wasn't too sure about JJ Abrams' comments about 'reinventing Trek, as published in Wired.

Here's the blog post in its entirety, and a doozy at that. It's the kind of thing that any true Star Trek fan may write. And yet, at the same time, it's something more. Bringing fans and stars together, the internet is. Enjoy.

As Marvel finds its feet as a fully fledged movie studio with the spectacular success of Iron Man, it has just announced a slate of Superhero movies stretching into 2011!

First up, as you'd expect, an Iron Man sequel, skedded for April 30, 2010, which shows that they are very serious about making sure of the quality, and that they hadn't automatically organised a sequel for the current hit.

Lovers of Scandinavian Gods turned Superhero will be stoked that Thor is skedded for June 4. Matthew Vaughn (Layer Cake, Stardust) is currently set to direct. The rumours that Dolph Lundgren is set to star are completely unfounded.

Iron Man Review

AT THE MOVIES

Friday, May 2

by Captain

Released May 1
Starring Robert Downey Jr, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jeff Bridges, Terence Howard
Director Jon Favreau
Rated M

Does Iron Man live up to it's hype? Not quite. Although it would be the world's greatest movie if it did. That said, it's not a bad effort at all, and everything you saw in the trailer was true. Robert Downey is suavely damaged goods, the action is fast and furious and the technology is the coolest movie technology, ever. Iron Man is a must-see movie for the Marvel-ites and of course, for anyone looking for a big screen romp.

Mr Marvel Dvd - Greg Johnson

INTERVIEWS

Thursday, May 1

by Captain

Greg Johnson, writer of the brand spanking new straight-to-DVD Marvel superhero movies, The Ultimate Avengers, The Ultimate Avengers II, The Invincible Iron Man and Dr Strange (out now) has been busy lately. Very busy. In a Marvel-rich environment he's managed to redefine what an animated comic-book movie is, something un-sneerable in this day and age. What used to be merely kid's fodder or the domain of Japanese freakshas now gone mainstream and upmarket, and the results are crowd-pleasing, a perfect pitch of fan-boy thumbs up and newbie excitement.
