Skyping with Warehouse 13's Saul Rubinek

Probably one of the most interesting interviews about acting and an actor's life that you will ever see. Enjoy.

A consummate storyteller, Saul Rubinek stars in Warehouse 13.

We've all seen countless interviews with slick Hollywood stars answering stock questions. We here at Sci Fi Pi understand how the world works, but at the same time, we want to change it, just a little. That's why we've started doing Skype interviews - the immediacy of the chat, that direct, face-to-face communication is something that seems to lend an air of authenticity to the exchange. However, with all new things, one wonders - will the people like it, will it work?

Interview with Christopher Heyerdahl from Sanctuary

Christopher Heyerdahl is one of the pillars of the Sci Fi acting community. Some fans may not know him (some!) but everyone has seen his work, at one time or another, be it on Stargate, Stargate: Atlantis, Supernatural, Twilight, Smallville,The Chronicles of Riddick, Andromeda and of course Sanctuary, where he plays not one, but two characters - the loyal Bigfoot, and the dark and dangerous John Druitt.

We managed to scrape into a small wedge in Christopher's busy schedule to have a chat with the man who created the likes of Todd the Wraith and talk to him about what he and Amanda Tapping get up to on the set of Sanctuary, what it's like being related to a famous explorer, what he thinks of the status of Stargate: Extinction and where you should go should you be in the market for a bicycle next time you're in British Columbia.

Interview with Sci Fi Director Jonathan Mostow

Jonathan Mostow is a director with a fondness for Sci Fi and action, and not necessarily in that order. With a track record that includes U-571 and Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, he's developed a solid following amongst adrenaline junkies looking for a little something extra in their explosion-filled entertainment.

Thus, when his latest film, Surrogates, came out the collective Sci Fi Meerkat Fans popped their heads up in anticipation. Starring Bruce Willis and Radha Mitchell, Surrogates shows a world where people live their life through robotic avatars, being more beautiful, stronger and perfect than their feeble human selves. Set against this intriguing background, a straight up murder investigation (with a twist).

Daybreakers: Interview with Michael and Peter Spierig

Michael and Peter Spierig, born in Germany but raised in Queensland, shot to prominence with the ultra low budget 2003 film, Undead. Since then, a lot of hard work and an incredible increase in budget have seen them land the likes of Ethan Hawke, Sam Neill, Willem Dafoe and Claudia Karvan for their new film, Daybreakers.

In this interview, the twin brothers discuss just how geeky Ethan Hawke is, what happens when animals like deer turn vampiric, how they made their way to 'overnight' success, the tricky thing about writing about exploding heads and they also get into the nitty gritty about what goes into the hard slog of making it in the modern world of filmmaking.

Bio-Robots and the World of the Film Surrogates - Not Too Far Away

Most Sci Fi fans saw the Bruce Willis film Surrogates on the big screen. It's coming out in Oz on Blu-ray and DVD on March 4. As part of the general hoo-ha surrounding the release, we hopped on to a virtual roundtable with Futurist, Dr James Canton and Randall Alley, CEO of Biodesigns, who opened up on the increasingly sophisticated and sometimes disturbing near future that the world of creepy iHumans have in store for us. They also open up the worlds of prosthetics and bio-engineering from a unique perspective.

Costas Mandylor Talks About His Next Project

A little while ago we spoke with the hunky Costas Mandylor about Saw IV, and he was happy to share his thoughts on a wide range of subjects. A charming, affable and relaxed man, Mandylor has a magnetic charm that just slays members of the fairer sex, who find him extremely swoon-worthy no matter what he's doing.

In this interview, Costas talks about how life imitates art when rehearsing with Tobin Bell (who plays the demented Jigsaw killer) and playing football (or soccer, if you will), with Hollywood United, the team that includes the likes of Ewan McGregor and Jason Statham and is run by Anthony La Paglia.

Firefly Q & A With Tim Minear and Jane Espenson

Firefly remains something beyond a cult show to its fans. Browncoats see Joss Whedon's mix of 'space' and 'cow' as one of the few brief moments where the human imagination was allowed to soar on TV. Cruelly cancelled after less than a season, it still pops up whenever a true Sci Fi geek is asked about their top Sci Fi shows of all time.

At the recent Serenity Con in Los Angeles (yes, they have Serenity Cons) Writer Jane Espenson and the showrunner, Tim Minear, sat down and had a good old chat with fans. If you've ever wanted to delve a little bit deeper into the Firefly phenomenon, or are an aspiring scriptwriter and want to get a few tips, here's your chance!

Gabriel Director Shane Abbess: Live in Hollywood

"I've turned down nine or ten movies that have already been made."

Recently you may have heard the news that Duncan (Moon) Jones had taken over the directing reigns of the film Source Code, a Sci Fi time-trap thriller, from Aussie director Shane Abbess. However, usually when you read about these things in The Hollywood Reporter or Daily Variety, what is written and what actually went on are sometimes very different things. We were intrigued.

Shane is well known to audiences as the director of Gabriel, the low budget film that has struck a chord worldwide in filmgoers seeking a bit of angel-on-angel brutality. His stylish film was very well received in the US, particularly on DVD.

SGU's Lou Diamond Phillips Talks Wolf Lake

You may know Loud Diamond Phillips as Colonel Telford on Stargate Universe, but soon you'll know him as Seattle policeman John Kanin on Wolf Lake.

Wolf Lake is a truly surprising show, filled with quirky characters and a world of werewolves that have their own culture and way of life, at odds (and occasionally - at lunch) with the human world.

We were lucky enough to speak with Lou Diamond Phillips (or LDP, as he's known on the Vancouver set of SGU) on Skype, who was more than happy to share his thoughts (and a few impersonations) on the show, his career and the fun he and the cast have making SCI FI's new hit.

Joseph Mallozzi has been working on Stargate SG1, Stargate Atlantis and now Stargate Universe for just on a decade.

Having written dozens of episodes, the writer/producer is one of the key voices that sing in concert with the two Stargate stalwarts, Brad Wright and Robert Cooper.

He has written the upcoming Stargate: Extinction, the movie length addition to the Stargate Atlantis story, as well as (among many others) the classic SG1 episodes ‘Moebius’, ‘Lockdown’, ‘Descent’ and ‘Homecoming’. And 'Wormhole X-Treme'. On SGA, his writing credits include ‘Home’, 'Travelers', 'This Mortal Coil' and the final episode, ‘Enemy at the Gate’.
