Star Wars Coming To Blu-Ray: It's official.

Yes. The Star Wars movies are coming to Blu-Ray. No, the original 'original' versions of the original trilogy are not.

Last week George Lucas announced that all the Star Wars movies are coming to Blu-ray.

Why has it taken so long for Episodes One to Six to come out in High Definition? Cash.

It seems that it's only by September of 2011 that there will be enough Blu-ray players in homes across the world to satisfy Lucasfilm. It's good news, bad news. Bad news for cynics who've had their fears about the primary motivation behind Star Wars grimly satisfied, good news for Blu-ray owners who want to see the most popular Sci Fi films of all time with the very best picture and video quality available today.

You may not know this, but the Alien Quadrilogy story on Home Video is not over. Far from it.

The Blu-ray, coming out on November 3, is set to add four hours to the behind-the-scenes and extras that you may have already seen on previous iterations of the classic Sci Fi series. The new extras include Sigourney Weaver's screentest for the original Alien.

It mark the debut Of The exclusive and groundbreaking interactive experience, MU-TH-UR mode. Fans will tell you that MU-TH-UR was the computer in the first film, which told the crew things things that they needed to know - and sometimes things they really didn't want to know.

Avatar on BD and DVD in April AND November

Last night, Avatar's director James Cameron and the film's producer Jon Landau presented scenes from the film’s upcoming Blu-ray release, outlined the ongoing fan engagement program, and announced the global partnership between Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment and Earth Day Network, the international non-profit organization that coordinates Earth Day.

In Australia, Avatar will be available on Blu-ray and DVD on April 29, 2010.

Internationally, it's out from April 21 to May 6, so we're not doing too bad. As you may have heard, this first release will have it's focus on high quality footage, rather than extras.

Push DVD/BD Review

Starring Chris Evans, Dakota Fanning, Joel Gretsch,Camilla Bell, Djimon Honsou
Director Paul McGuigan
Rated M
Released Jan 4

If you're looking for a movie that blends Hong Kong grunge with X-Men style powers, this is your holy grail.

An edgy, gritty style of filmmaking gives a real 'in your face' texture to a story more similar, perhaps, to fans of Firestarter, than to fans of X-Men, although in this case, the execution of the action takes a leaf form its setting and gives it a Hong Kong style of fight choreography and action-plus action.

Giving The Gift of Sci Fi: Stargate SG-1

Christmas time is descending upon us like a voracious Gundark eager not to have its ears pulled. Panic is starting to set in.

Sure, you can always take the easy, clever and rather delightful path that begins with giving the gift of a SCI FI Channel subscription to those nearest and dearest who haven't discovered the joys of Channel 125 yet. Not a bad option at all.

;)

However, you could also consider giving the gift of shows that you see on SCI FI.

One of the all time SCI FI faves, and one of the longest running Sci Fi shows in history, is Stargate SG1. Currently in it's third evolution on SCI FI as Stargate Universe, Stargate SG1 is a classic adventure story that lovers of Sci Fi need very little introduction to. The continuing adventures of Jack O'Nell, Samantha Carter, Daniel Jackson and Teal'c, and then later, Cameron Mitchell and Vala Mal Doran, (and let's not forget Jonas Quinn!) have enthralled and delighted for ten seasons and two movies - and you can see them all in the Stargate SG1 Portal Collection.

Take a look, if you will, at Stargate Atlantis. SGA to its friends.
