Noooooooo! That's impossible!
Try as you might, no matter how jaded you are, you will not be able to look away.
The irresistible combination of wool and miniaturisation from Japan, known as Amigurumi, has met with Star Wars in an entirely overpowering way. Sure, you may have seen the like before, but that's no reason you can't take a little time out of your day for a little 'dowaaah'.
The word is derived from a combination of the Japanese words 'ami', meaning crocheted or knitted, and 'nuigurumi', meaning stuffed doll. So not that much of a surprise, then.

The closer it comes, the more excited we get.
The first weekend of March is a special one for sci fi fans in Australia. The Hub Productions are hosting a Stargate convention and have managed to secure one of the most impressive Stargate line-ups ever seen, not only just in Australia, but worldwide.
Head-lining the event will be the man himself, Richard Dean Anderson. Richard makes very few appearances, and the impressive line-up continues with Ben Browder and Claudia Black, as well as Christopher Judge. Indeed!

The good people at Boing Boing (such a good site) have spotted this and we felt compelled to investigate. What started out as a delightful rendition of Jabbe the Hutt in fudge, cake and fondant for a birthday has lead to an all-you-can-eat buffet of all things Jabba.
Yes. It's a blog devoted to all things Jabba and all collectibles relating to Jabba.
The cake is GREAT, don't get us wrong, but the sheer extent of the collectibles and memorabilia are a sight to warm even the most jaded of Star Wars fans. There's even a singed photograph from Declan Mulholland.

To celebrate this week's release of BioShock 2 on February 9, SCI FI and 2K Games are giving you the chance to be in the running to win an XBox 360 BioShock 2 Pack.
We've had a look at Bioshock 2 and can confirm - it's awesome. What would make it even more awesome is playing the Xbox 360 version on a brand new Xbox 360 Console. It's a sweet prize, and gets even sweeter for runner ups, who can grab a nice bag of swag.
Here are the details:
SPECIAL FEATURES Wednesday, February 10 by Captain
Some of you may remember the groovy little origami Star Wars vehicles made out of US dollar bills.
Well, the internet has gone one better (it usually does). We've located a Frenchman who makes Star Wars vehicles out of rail tickets.
It's not origami this time, but does use delicate folding, cutting, and some incredible dexterity.
The results are delightful.
Who is the man behind this mission? A chap by the name of Hubert de Lartigue - he's an artist who works using photo-realistic airbrushing, and has already made a name for himself doing fun cheesecake style pin-ups, and also by wandering into the worlds of fantasy and Sci Fi. If you're a gamer, you may recognise his covers on RuneQuest, Land of Ninja and Stormbringer.
SPECIAL FEATURES Friday, February 5 by Captain
A lot of our readers will be aware of the fighting 501st, the organisation of Earth-bound Stormtroopers who come from all parts of the globe. If ever you see a stormtrooper at a convention, film opening or charity event, chances are they're from the 501st.
The local Australian contingent is headed up by Terror Australis, but most states have their own garrisons, if you want to check it out. The suits are generally better quality and higher detail than seen in the original Star Wars film, and are really quite impressive in the flesh.

When it comes to Sci Fi, Australia herself seems to breed/introduce people who enjoy watching it far more than they can make it. That said, there's a long tradition of filmmakers in Australia with the desire to make Sci Fi - and one day, when the reticence of Australian film funding bodies and the excellence and imagination of home-grown talent reaches its tipping point, we will see a flood of original, dynamic Sci Fi movies that will rock the world with their Australian-ness.
Consider, if you will, Daybreakers, a great twist on the vampire myth, coming out in February, created by the Aussie Spierig brothers, and Shane Abbess, who made Gabriel and is poised to create epic Sci Fi in Hollywood. The ray of sunshine that was Farscape, the work of Alex Proyas - these are candles that light the way.

The universe is really, really big. And that's just the known universe!
Have a look at an extraordinary visualization of the Earth's place in the universe. Quite the way to start a new decade. Puts things into perspective, really.
Sure, the Universe is big. but is it as big as Avatar? Hmmmm.

There’s an old saying – ‘seeing is believing’. In some cases, this is not true.
Take for example, the work of Finnish artist Mari Kasurinen, whose work blending pop culture icons is, frankly, unbelievable.
At times disturbing, at times hilarious, there’s something otherworldy about blending ‘My Little Pony’ and ‘Star Wars’. In an internet filled with unlikely mashups, this is one of the more bizarre. It does make one reflect as to just where will this merry mashup road take us?
Yeah. TK 421 was looking for me. That’s why he wasn’t at his post.
