The Hollywood Reporter has, er, reported that Tom Cruise is getting into business with none other than Sam Raimi to make a movie version of the Sci Fi graphic novel, Sleeper. No, not the same Sleeper that Woody Allen did (film buffs, this really could be a fine option for Cruise, don't you think?) but a tale of an agent who gets fused with alien technology that makes him impervious to pain. Touch gives the power to others. He goes undercover as a 'sleeper' agent in a nefarious criminal organisation, teaming up with characters such as Miss Misery.

Trek Your Computer Now
The Star Trek Movie has released more images to go with those released at Comic Con (including John Cho as Sulu and Anton Yelchin as Chekov) and they're now available for download from the official site. You can also get the crew (and baddies) as icons. Just perfect for keeping the hype alive for the next nine months! And 05 08 09 is actually the 8th of May, not the 5th of April, in the Americanised dating system - so no, it hasn't been pushed back again. Good news for fans of director JJ.Abrams, who is now reported working on an earthquake-based film. Has not been pinged yet as the sequel to Cloverfield.

In the greatest "I knew it all along!' news for UFOlogists ever, Apollo 14 astronaut Dr Edgar Mitchell has claimed aliens exist.

According to Dr Mitchell, 77, the 'grey' alien - as seen in Close Encounters and Stargate (among others!) is pretty much dead on.

He went on to say our technology is "not nearly as sophisticated" as theirs and "had they been hostile", he warned "we would have been gone by now".

Dr Mitchell also confirmed that the Roswell alien space crash was real and that similar alien visits continue to be investigated.

Comic Con Gets Even Bigger

NEWS

In one of those 'why didn't they think of that sooner?' moves, video game companies have joined the fray with gusto at this year's Comic Con.

Held every year in San Diego, Comic Con welcomes over 125,000 hard core comic collectors and fans of genre films and TV - it's gotten so big now that it's regarded as a family event.

One of the major staples of the four day get together is the release of preview footage or trailers of upcoming films - traditionally comic-book based or Sci Fi based. This year though, the sheer power of the numbers (and the internet chatter that Comic Con produces) means that game companies like EA are throwing down serious dosh for big exhibitions of upcoming releases. Activision, Capcom, Konami, Microsoft’s Xbox 360 and Sony’s PlayStation 3 are also taking large chunks of territory previously held by the comic book fraternity.

As Battlestar Galacitica's fourth and final season prepares to air its final ten episodes in the US, more than 3,000 props, costumes, memorabilia and other items from SCI FI Channel's original series will be auctioned off. Only problem for Aussies - they're in Los Angeles.

Going under the hammer - the uniform worn by Admiral William Adama (Edward James Olmos) and a life-sized Cylon Centurion costume. And this is only the tip of the frakking toaster!

NBC Universal and Propworx will conduct two live auctions in Los Angeles, along with a series of Internet auctions coinciding with the airing of the show's final 10 episodes, which starts in early 2009. Gots to get in on that action!

With The X-Files: I Want to Believe opening up next week on the 24th, it seems only sweet and fitting and proper (dulce et decorum est, Latin fans!) that we at SCI FI hold an entirely over-the-top competition to celebrate.

Should you deign to enter, you may in fact find yourself inundated with a swag of goodies that would make even Cancer Man feel guilty in tucking away. It is truly extravagant, including a GPS Car system, a mobile phone, an entire set of X-Files DVDs and more!

You will want to believe in yourself, that you can win one of the four prize packs. Sculls and Mulls would.
