Stardock.com is THE home of Windows wysiwig modding on the net.

If you don't know what that means, best not to worry too much. It's just that when PC geeks get bored with their Vista or XP or 98 interfaces, they like to change the look, and you can get programs that change boring old windows into something that looks (literally) like the interior of a spaceship. It's the spiritual geek home for PC geeks.

So when they make a game, it's 'geek take notice!' time.

PSP
Rated M

Okay okay. You've heard of Kratos, the rather angry Spartan who's been kicking ancient ass for a while now for the Playstation people, both in terms of on-screen action and real world sales. His move to the PSP gives you a chance to slaughter fearsome enemies on the bus, on the train or, really creepily, waiting at the vet's. The chains in the title refers to both to Kratos' sexy flaming killing implements, and the fact that he's been sent by the Gods to wreak havoc on earth (and in the underworld) by removing all manner of ornery beastie. Hilarity ensues.

Finally, the PS3 gets to show its chops with the Gran Turismo platform. The clamouring of GT fans has been so loud that the game is actually being released in 'prologue' form, a 'bare bones' form of the full game which will be released in a year's time. If you've never played a GT game, then you'd be forgiven for not knowing that it's generally considered the premiere driving game available on consoles, with an emphasis on the driving 'feel' of each specific car and gorgeous graphics. So what do you get in GT 5 Prologue? Let's have a quick squizz.

Indiana Jones Goes Lego!

GAMES

Tuesday, February 19

It certainly is the year of Indy with Kingdom of the Crystal Skull coming out on May 22, and the re-release of all the films on standalone DVD, as well as all The Adventures of Young Indiana Jones in three volumes.

But probably (almost) the best news out of all this Indymania is the release of 'The Man in the Hat' on Lego.

If you've played Lego Star Wars, you'll know why excitement levels are high. Somehow the maths of action+adventure+animated building blocks = enormously amusing.

Available on PS3, XBOX 360, and (in March) PC

If you haven't seen the pics or video footage you could be forgiven for not quite believing the hype that has surrounded Assassin's Creed. However, now with the upcoming release on PC (with extra side missions), there's very little excuse for the casual gamer not to pick this up.

Why is it so good? In a word - atmosphere.

XBOX 360, Wii, PS3, Nintendo DS

Lego Star Wars is just plain fun. Anyone who plays it has a huge smile across their face. Relive the glory days of the original trilogy and then deal with the last (or first) three films, but now with a song in your heart as every character is transformed into a blocky little Lego man. The more evil, the more funny, yet there’s no cynicism to the way the game play or characters or action has been designed.

PS3

This is the one where you ride flying dragons. Gorgeous Lord of Rings-style design and world, with a world divided by volcanoes and rivers of lava breaks into two warring peoples – the sophisticated Asylians and the working class Mokai. The real standout here is the tremendous orchestral score. Action in the air is controlled by the PS3 Sixaxis controller, which takes a bit of getting used to for newbies. Kill enemies by attacking with claws and breaths of flame. You can also attack ground troops by strafing and then – stomping!
