Feb 6 is the official release date for possibly one of the greatest genre mishmash crossovers in SCI FI DVD history. Seth MacFarlane's iconic Family Guy series, well known for its movie references and in particular Star Wars jokes, has gone the whole hog and produced an hour long Star Wars episode entitled Blue Harvest.

Hardcore Star Wars fans will be able to tell you that Blue Harvest was the fake name used by George Lucas to throw journos off the scent whilst shooting Revenge, no hang on, Return of the Jedi.

DVD/HD DVD Combo Disc Set

For hardcore TOS fans, it will only be a few years ago that you bought the DVD of TOS Series 1. So now they say there's another version, apparently better, more interesting. But is it that much better that we must hand over the cash yet again?

Its balls-to-the-wall action sequences, obviously high production values and sexy 'dark' look say savage swordplay with alluring sheen.

(also available in 2 Disc set in DVD and Blu-ray and a 5 Disc Ultimate Collector's Edition Set with origami unicorn, model spinner and more.)

This latest release of Blade Runner extends the debate on re-releases to its fullest extent - but ultimately, the question is, is it worth it?

For fans of the film (and it's generally included in any top five Sci Fi films of all time, this is a no-brainer.

Yes. Yes it is.

Released: Nov 28

So why, after not one, not two, but three previously released versions, should we possibly bother to buy another Close Encounters of the Third Kind?

Firstly, the picture quality. This is the first Spielberg movie released for the Blu-ray. If you have a Blu-ray player (or a PS3) and a new HD TV, then you will see a noticeable jump in the fine details and the special effects. Even your non-geek ‘who cares?’ potato couch will really sit up and take notice. To the sound as well: John Williams’ score has never been treated so well.
