Daybreakers: Interview with Michael and Peter Spierig

Michael and Peter Spierig, born in Germany but raised in Queensland, shot to prominence with the ultra low budget 2003 film, Undead. Since then, a lot of hard work and an incredible increase in budget have seen them land the likes of Ethan Hawke, Sam Neill, Willem Dafoe and Claudia Karvan for their new film, Daybreakers.

In this interview, the twin brothers discuss just how geeky Ethan Hawke is, what happens when animals like deer turn vampiric, how they made their way to 'overnight' success, the tricky thing about writing about exploding heads and they also get into the nitty gritty about what goes into the hard slog of making it in the modern world of filmmaking.

What does Claudia Karvan have to say about Star Wars? Find out!

They also discuss their film influences, their work ethic and what it's like making films in Australia with American money. Cool guys, with their heads on straight, you can see why Daybreakers is such a cool movie - they really do care about the geeky bits!

If you haven't seen Daybreakers yet, do! It's the vampire apocalypse film we had to have.
