Giving The Gift of Sci Fi: Stargate SG-1

Christmas time is descending upon us like a voracious Gundark eager not to have its ears pulled. Panic is starting to set in.

Sure, you can always take the easy, clever and rather delightful path that begins with giving the gift of a SCI FI Channel subscription to those nearest and dearest who haven't discovered the joys of Channel 125 yet. Not a bad option at all.

However, you could also consider giving the gift of shows that you see on SCI FI.


One of the all time SCI FI faves, and one of the longest running Sci Fi shows in history, is Stargate SG1. Currently in it's third evolution on SCI FI as Stargate Universe, Stargate SG1 is a classic adventure story that lovers of Sci Fi need very little introduction to. The continuing adventures of Jack O'Nell, Samantha Carter, Daniel Jackson and Teal'c, and then later, Cameron Mitchell and Vala Mal Doran, (and let's not forget Jonas Quinn!) have enthralled and delighted for ten seasons and two movies - and you can see them all in the Stargate SG1 Portal Collection.

It has everything. Literally. Do you want extras? Try 65 hours worth of extras. Yes, both the movies are in it.

One of the coolest things about The Portal Collection is that it comes in a 'photo album' style case, making it a far more space-conscious DVD collection for the serious Sci Fi collector. Gone are the days of buying a bigger apartment so you can fit your DVD collection in, or (shudder) removing your DVDs from their cases and putting them into boxes.

If you are, or know, the ultimate Stargate fan, then this is the Christmas present to get.
