The Evolution of Storage

No, it's not the history of closets!

One thing that constantly amazes both geeks and dorks and jocks alike is the ever increasing capacity of computers. Any TV show, film or book that dares mention the specs of a computer on screen becomes laughably dated only a year after it comes out. So dated, in fact, that it's hard to go back more than a few years to a place where people could pronounce gigawatts as 'jiggerwats' and get away with it.

(That would be in 1985's Back to the Future)

Now we all know (sort of) what a giga is, merely due to the fact that our computers have so much storage. The not so humble gigabyte, however, will soon be replaced by the Terabyte, and god help us all, the Petabyte.

How DID we get here?

Hats off to Gizmodo, home of gadgety goodness, for the original find.
