Comic Book Legend: Len Wein

The Creator of Wolverine, Len Wein, needs no introduction to people who know their comics. However, if you don't know your Venom from your Nightcrawler, here's a quick introduction.

He's the creator of Swamp Thing (if you haven't heard of this, it's brilliant mix of comedy and pathos is stunning - a real find for newbies to comics) and is pretty much responsible for the rise of the X-Men from obscure flailing franchise to the global juggernaut it is today. His creation of Wolverine (originally as a foe for The Incredible Hulk), Storm, Nightcrawler (you may have seen Kurt Wagner's teleporting blue-tailed antics in the opening scene of X2) and Colossus. He has taken over the chief editing duties at BOTH Marvel and DC (the world's largest rival comic book publishers) .

He began writing for comics in 1968, and went on to scale such heights as editing the epic Watchmen. He was inducted into the Will Eisner Hall of Fame in 2008, cementing his place in the comic book pantheon. Talking to him is talking to ink-stained royalty. In reality though, it's a very pleasant chat. Find out what the man behind so much is like.

We sat down with Len in the heart of Beverly Hills to discuss just how to spot a decent comic book movie, what it's like trying to handle Dave Gibbons and Alan Moore as the editor of Watchmen, and what's coming up for his most famous creation, Wolverine.
