Fast becoming a growth industry, Nerdy Wedding cakes impress us by both their sheer craftsmanship and audacity. The always entertaining website, io9, has scoured the internet and put together a compendium of some of the finest (and nerdiest) wedding cakes on offer. Some of them are clever, some defy belief, but all ate delicious.

However, others raise questions. The compatibility (biological, emotional) of Optimus Prime and Smurfette, for example, is one for the ages.
