Daybreakers 'Vampire World' Trailer is Awesome - and Aussie!

As the world endures Transformers Revenge of the Fallen, it's good to know that interesting movies ARE out there. Case in point, Moon, starring Sam Rockwell, which has been getting rave reviews, and now the Ethan Hawke starrer, Daybreakers.



Hawke is back in the Sci Fi world on an Earth where nearly everyone is a vampire - and the supply of fresh human blood is running out. Both an awesome spin on the vampire flick and a neat little cypher for the approaching peak oil problem, when the Earth, eventually, runs out of oil.



Scheduled for a January 21, 2010 release, the film stars Sam Neill, Willem Defoe, Isabel Lucas, Ethan Hawke and Claudia Karvan - and best of all, wait for it... it's directed by the Spierig brothers, the Aussie boys who brought you Undead!

The official logline goes like this: An unknown plague has transformed the world's population into vampires. As the human population nears extinction, vampires must capture and farm every remaining human, or find a blood substitute before time runs out. However, a covert group of vampires makes a remarkable discovery, one which has the power to save the human race.



A nice poster and a pic have been floating around, but the trailer looks to be the world-beating goods. We'll be chatting to the Speirigs just as soon as possible and see if we can't get the good oil on what we're predicting will be the latest top Australian film to conquer the world.
