InFAMOUS has you playing as bike messenger Cole MacGrath, stunned survivor of a mysterious energy blast that has laid waste to Empire City. For many Sci Fi fans, Iain M Banks is one of the foremost authors living today. His Culture novels combine a scintillating imagination, cheeky humour and fond regard for the grand conventions of Sci Fi - be they used, parodied - or upgraded. As a source of entertainment, Banks' novels are almost universally enjoyed, and as such, are a great place to start for any Sci Fi reader entering the world of Sci Fi literature.

Whilst Australians don't get into Halloween like Americans do (possibly because we've never actually burned any witches, who knows?), we still don't mind the occasional dress up. Dress up parties are often an excuse to live out a dark, long held fantasy. The burgeoning world of cosplay that is blossoming across the convention world is another way that people share their love of of wearing and becoming the fantastical.
Hell, some fans are defined by the clothes they wear - Firefly fans are known as Browncoats.
INTERVIEWS Friday, June 26 by Captain
Richard Hatch is the ultimate Sci Fi fan’s ultimate Sci Fi hero. He lives and breathes Sci Fi like a fan in a way that not many other actors can claim. Originally achieving world wide fame as the original Apollo on the original Battlestar Galactica, he has returned to Sci Fi superstardom with his pivotal and acclaimed role as Tom Zarek on the new Battlestar Galactica, generally regarded as the finest Sci Fi series ever made.
But in the years that separated the two, he was a one man band playing the ‘bring back Battlestar’ tune, followed by die-hard fans, and then, as time wore on, a burgeoning internet following. It’s hard to imagine a time before Ron Moore’s new BSG blew us all out of the water, but during that time, Richard Hatch WAS Battlestar.

As the world endures Transformers Revenge of the Fallen, it's good to know that interesting movies ARE out there. Case in point, Moon, starring Sam Rockwell, which has been getting rave reviews, and now the Ethan Hawke starrer, Daybreakers.
Hawke is back in the Sci Fi world on an Earth where nearly everyone is a vampire - and the supply of fresh human blood is running out. Both an awesome spin on the vampire flick and a neat little cypher for the approaching peak oil problem, when the Earth, eventually, runs out of oil.

If you're a fan of Watchmen, the comic, then you're in luck. The man who illustrated the whole darned thing is in Sydney, right now!
He's in town as a guest of Supanova, and doing some promo duties for the Watchmen DVD and BD that's coming out on the 30th of July. Hopefully we may even get to interview him and show the results on this very website.
Gibbons has had a stellar career that stretches back before Watchmen changed the face of comics in the 80's all the way to now, where he's still working on new projects, both as illustrator and storyteller, across all sorts of media.

This isn't so much a sexist, racist melange, but an insult to people everywhere. Which is pretty impressive, given it's just meant to be a popcorn-muncher about robots that become cars and other assorted vehicles.
Aimed at spoiled ten year olds (yes, it's aimed at people who have less discretion than amped up 14 year olds) this brings back the mediocrity that so many fanboys remember from the Transformers cartoons in their 80's hey day. It's just a whole lot bigger, louder and more expensive.
