Emo Jacket Lets You Feel The Emotion

Aldous Huxley in his novel, Brave New World, talked about something called the 'feelies'.

It was a world that had test tube babies, and frowned on literature, so we aren't going to surmise that these were films taken to their emotional apex.

No - they were films where you felt the tingly excitement of the action you saw on screen. Ridiculous! How far fetched! As if something like that could ever happen! How could anyone come up with something like that?

Well, someone has come up with it. And not some backyard kook, but a frontyard kook - the Phillips Electronics company.

Welcome to a Brave New World that now includes the Emo Jacket, with feel-o-vision. It lets you really feel what's going on in a movie. Using similar coding technology to D-box Motion Code chairs, the jacket will react to signals encoded on a DVD or Blu-ray.

The jacket, still in the developmental stage, has 64 actuators across the arms and body. The sensations will be subtle — it will create tension in the arms, or vibrate to simulate a heartbeat, or tap you on the shoulder. Don't worry — if someone onscreen gets punched in the gut, the jacket won't nail you in the belly. Although that can't be too far away.

Emo Pants, Emo Hats and Emo Underwear have not yet been discussed, but obviously can't be too far away.
