As spring gets rather sprung and the welcome weather warms our hearts, SCI FI has yet another stupendous week on offer for fans of all Sci Fi flavour and genre. We've got the end of the world (as per usual), alien abductions, underground monsters, freaky virtual reality and a dinosaurs running amok!
First up this week - don't forget Monday night's episode of The Dresden Files, at 7.30pm. If you've missed the first episodes, remember that you can catch them in full, in great quality, in our online video player, Spectrum,
here.
The Sci Fi feast continues with a bang - on the 23rd, we've got the genius of Solar Attack, the Mark Dacoscos starrer that features none other than Academy Award winner Lou Gossett Jr as the President of the USA! Eat your heart out Morgan Freeman. Just when you thought global warming was getting a bit lukewarm, get ready for some global cooking, with giant solar flares setting the methane in the earth's atmosphere on fire! Scientifically correct? Surrrrrrrrrre. Lots of cheesy fun? You bet!
Solar Attack, Tuesday, September 23 at 10:20pm
On Thursday we have a treat for alien conspiracy theorists and a lovely return to one of the most underrated Sci Fi shows - the 4400. Season 1 kicks off with a triple episode ride, just perfect for newbies to dive deeply into the world of alien abductions, strange and mysterious powers and a pretty mind-bending time-travel plot. Join Joel Gretsch and Australia's own Jacqueline McKenzie.
The 4400, Thursday, September 25 from 7.30pm.
From the sublime to the ridiculous - Saturday night sees more grabass Graboid fun with Tremors 2! The further along in the sequel count, the more fun these movies get, and with 3 and 4 to come, you can't miss this weekend's screening of the continuing adventures of Earl Bassett and Burt Gummer. Micahel Gross and Fred Ward star in this hugely entertaining sequel.
Check out Tremors 2, Saturday, September 27 at 1.30pm and 10.50pm.
To finish off the week, we've got a stone-cold schtonker - Steven Spielberg's The Lost World: Jurassic Park. Yes. It's all the 'T-Rex munches suburbia' you could possibly dream of, with the delightful inclusion of Julianne Moore and the 'no, really, he's just like that normally' Jeff Goldblum making a return as the increasingly dinosaur-prone mathematician, Ian Malcolm. The cast also includes Vince Vaughn and Pete Postlethwaite, and of course, a boat load (literally) of cool should be dead dinos.
THE LOST WORLD: JURASSIC PARK, screens Sunday, September 28 at 12.30pm & 10.50pm, and Monday September 29 at 9am.
But wait - there's more!
A Sunday afternoon special - The Thirteenth Floor. A little Sci Fi gem that not many have seen - but those who have, adore. The 1999 film about the flickering line between reality and virtual reality is something of a mind-bender, reminiscent of The Matrix but told with the aid of a world set in 1937 Los Angeles. Dreamlike, disturbing, but compelling, this is a film that will reward even the most jaded of Sci Fi palettes. A great cast includes Armin Mueller-Stahl, Craig Bierko, Gretchen Mol and Law and Order's Vincent D'Onofrio.
Make a date for the SCI FI PREMIERE of The Thirteenth Floor, Sunday, September 28 at 5pm
