STARGATE ATLANTIS SEASON 3 PREMIERE! Screens Friday, August 29 at 8.30pm
In the first episode of Season 3, two Wraith hive ships, having tricked the humans of Atlantis into revealing the location of Earth, immediately set course for this rich new feeding ground. Can Dr. Weir sabotage their plans and save Earth? Probably not. The Earth is more than likely, doomed, and we'll all be Wraith-lunch by next Tuesday. Unless of course Colonel Sheppard, Rodney, Teyla and Ronon can figure something out, pronto! Fingers crossed. Season 3 of Atlantis really is one of the very best of Stargate experiences, with some new and rather marvellous enemies popping up, and probably the best ever special effects shot ever made on a TV Sci Fi show - when will it screen? Stay tuned to find out!
Cemetery Gates, screens Saturday, August 30 at 1.30pm and 10.50pm
A pair of eco-activists liberate a very temperamental, very hungry, giant mutated Tasmanian Devil from a lab and release it near a woodland cemetery – the same cemetery where a group of college students are making a film.
Mad Max : Beyond Thunderdome, screens Sunday, August 31 at 12.30pm and 11pm
The final chapter in the saga of a man still clinging to a world of order in an apocalypse gone crazy. 'Mad' Max Rockatansky happens upon Bartertown where Aunt Entity's Thunderdome hosts death sports, the town's greatest amusement. Max must fight not only for his life, but for a colony of orphaned children, and it is through their voices that we hear the tale of Max. Majestic, insane and brutal big-haired fun. If you've never seen this, if you've never heard of TIna Turner, change your entire world with one single movie!
Star Trek: Generations, screens Sunday, August 31 at 5pm and Monday, September 1 at 9am
Trekkies look on number seven in the Star Trek movie pantheon very fondly - the passing of the torch from the original crew to the next generation, the film of 'two captains'. See them go into battle side by side, one trying to stop a mad scientist from wiping out an entire planet, and another heartily enjoying his death for the last 78 years!
The Duras sisters are in there, a schtonking saucer separation (and crash!), some splendiferous special effects, Data experimenting with his emotion chip and one of the most intriguing Star Trek ideas, ever - the Nexus, a place where you literally live your dreams, forever. Do take time to share the magic, and the joy - this week, on SCI FI!
Oh, and don't forget to tune in to Lexx and Cleopatra 2525, either!
