What's On This Week July 7 - 13

CAPTAIN'S BLOG

Sunday, July 6

by Captain

This week seems to be more than just business (if you could ever call it that) as usual at the SCI FI Channel. We're unleashing yet another pair of the monstacular SCI FI Originals on an unsuspecting Australian public, from the very depths of the earth to the wide spaces of the open air. It's all rather entomological (perhaps, even a bit Them! inspired) this July week on SCI FI.

To paraphrase George Orwell - six legs good, two legs - bad luck!

Tuesday night (at 10.20pm) the action starts with the finest gigantic beetles that $2.50 can buy! Caved In tells the tale of a viciously over-insectoided Swiss salt mine that claimed its first victims in 1948, and now, 50 years later, the bugs are back for more when Christopher Atkins (The Blue Lagoon) and Star Trek's Colm Meaney join in the fun. Gigantic subterranean stag beetles versus family of adventurous humans? Don't event think about missing it!

If you do, though, you can see it the day after, at lunchtime - Wednesday at 1pm.

Saturday's SCI FI Original is slightly more biblical in scope and storyline, with Locusts: The 8th Plague clogging up the airwaves with its ravenous and deadly airborne hordes. Middle America (a.k.a 'the Bible Belt') is the victim of a plague of locusts - ho hum you say? - how about flesh-eating locusts! Awww yeaah!

When will those government-funded scientist ever learn?

David Keith (And Officer and a Gentlemen) and Buffy's saucy Julie Benz provide the star people power in this emotional tale of human versus insect. Can the moronic military stop stuffing up long enough to save the earth? Or are we all doomed.

Find out this Saturday, July 12, at lunchtime (of course!) 1.30pm, and for a bit of a late-night romp at 10.50pm.

Don't forget the Aerogard - and avagoodweekend!
