George Lucas Finally Captured In Frozen Carbonite

SPECIAL FEATURES

Wednesday, July 30

by Captain

If you didn't manage to get to Japan's recent Star Wars Celebration (just going to put that out there) you may have missed out on seeing this once-in-a-lifetime sculpture. George Lucas encased in carbonite is one of the coolest things we've seen in a while - although of course, it opens up a philosophical can of worms.

It's hard not to walk down the 'this is what happens when you try to defend Jar Jar!' line. Or 'that's for fricking midichlorians!'. It's also hard not wonder if he's okay in there, and whether he'll have to suffer the chills and pains and blindness once he's out.

Perhaps he may want to stay in there for a rest whilst the Clone Wars come out on August the 14, just in case. And you can't hear people being mean about Indy 4 when you're encased in frozen carbonite. (Although a worldwide take of over $750 Million should help ease that pain).

Obviously this fine work begs the question as to what next is going to get the carbonite treatment. Whilst it doesn't make any narrative sense, the Force (it surrounds us) is suggesting a Slave Leia version.

THE CLONE WARS

The new animated series (kicking off with the film) and the new live-action series looks to be a testament to the awesome power of Star Wars. What do you think? DO you like the animation style? What adventures do you recommend? And how on earth will they pull off 100 episodes of animation AND 100 episodes of LIVE ACTION Star Wars?
