The upcoming Batman film, The Dark Knight, may have already have won 2008's 'war of the superhero/comic book blockbusters' without firing a shot. And that's even with Wanted's suprisingly excellent reviews and Hancock's crowd-pleasing take on the genre. And WALL-E's wall to wall positive reviews and G-powered box-office in its first week of release.

The first industry preview of The Dark Knight in Los Angeles - and the word on the street is - 'something special'.

Garth Franklin, editor of the Internet's premiere 'coming up' website, Dark Horizons, has stated that it's "not a comic book movie at all - very much like Michael Mann's "Heat".

Holey dooley. Looks like we'll need a new word for 'awesome'.
