There comes a time in every channel's life that you have to stop and listen and smell the event horizon. SCI FI is proud to announce that it is indeed the kind of channel that stops and listens, and as a stopping and listening channel, has responded to a blizzard of calls for Stargate:Season 9 by in fact putting it on the air.
Tune in to SCI FI this Friday the 25th, 7.30pm, and you will see the season that brings in the Ori, lead by none other than the Warlock (and for fans of A Room With A View, George Emerson!) Julian Sands.
After almost a decade of being chased around by the Goa'uld and then finally taking some snake-head names, the team at SG-1 could be rightly forgiven for hanging up their boots - but no. Super scary religious-type aliens with a penchant for burning the non-believers and 'altering' their priests mean that our galaxy is under threat again and a new SG-1 leader, Cameron Mitchell (Stargate's Ben Browder) has to 'put the band back together' in the first episode of Season 9, Avalon.
There's a great subplot with Vala (Claudia Black, also from Farscape) trying to get Daniel to help her find Merlin's (yep, the Merlin the Magician) treasure. A great start to a great season - make sure you get in sync for a hell of a ride for the SG-1 team in 2008!
On the weekend, the Mad Max Mania continues, with Mad Max:Beyond Thunderdome blasting through your TV screen on Saturday at 1.30pm and 11pm and Sunday at 12.30pm. The perfect Sci Fi for this Australia Day long weekend, with Dr George Miller's classic trilogy coming to a rambunctious ending with Mad Max Rockatansky swapping his driving gloves for, er, not quite boxing gloves (chainsaws, really) as he enters the Thunderdome (two men enter, one man leaves!). Tune in to the rather rough lifestyle in Bartertown, the capital of the apocalyptic nowhere, and savour the grand sweep of nihilistic death match madness at its best!
